About the app
Chemistry you build yourself.
Every element is a component with a number of ports – the electrons it can give away, take or share. Connect atoms and the app works out whether you made an ionic bond or a single, double or triple bond, and whether the molecule is stable.

- Over 90 molecules to discover, from H₂ and NaCl to ethanol, amino acids and sugars.
- The element map arranges all 118 elements by ports and period.
- Building blocks like OH, CH₃ and COOH unlock once you have built them yourself.
- No ads, no in-app purchases and no data collection. Works offline.
- English and Swedish.
- VoiceOver support – atoms can be connected without dragging.

Frequently asked questions
Which devices does the app run on?
Materialarkitekten runs on iPhone with iOS 18 or later.
Does anything in the app cost extra?
No. The app has no ads and no in-app purchases.
Does the app need the internet?
No. Everything works offline, and the app does not send any data anywhere.
How do I connect two atoms?
Add atoms with the plus button on the Build tab, then drag one atom onto another. The app works out which kind of bond it becomes. With VoiceOver, select an atom and use the “Connect to …” action instead.
Why won’t the atoms bond?
An atom can only bond while it has free ports, and noble gases don’t bond at all. Tap the molecule’s status bar and the app shows what is missing, such as free ports or the wrong charge.
How do I change the language?
The app starts in your phone’s language. You can switch between English and Swedish with the language menu on the Map tab.
Where is my progress stored?
Completed missions, discovered molecules and your collection are stored only on your iPhone. They are included in your own backup, but are removed if you delete the app. To start over from the beginning, delete the app and install it again.
Can the app be used in school?
Yes. No accounts are needed and no personal data is collected, so students can start right away. Read more in the privacy policy.
